Thursday, January 17th, 2013

Today is Day 5.

Please make sure you read and understand the email from Dr. Cook regarding our new safety procedures.  We will not repost the text here as this is a public blog.  Please check your email if you have not done so already.  The entire school is affected.

 *Thursday, Jan. 17th:     Cook@Meeting
Speas will be hosting a district Math training '
                                                 (5th grade classrooms-Jewel and Ricket

Please watch the weather closely, and be alert for any delays on Friday.  Typically the school system does a phone message and informs the local media channels and radio stations.

Congrats to all of the Spelling Bee contestants.  They did a phenomenal job.  Special congrats to Sajiah Taylor, our runner up, and to Neida Luis-Garcia our winner!  If you see these young people around, say something encouraging.
Thanks to Mrs. Hooker, and Mrs. Dobson for organizing and participating.

Congrats to the Henning Family.  See text of email from Dr. Cook below

I am excited to announce that Nicholas Henning has arrived!  He was born today at 5:45pm and is 3 lbs 9oz.  He is staying strong in NICU and Mommy is doing great!  His is roughly 3 weeks early and very tiny so let's get the positive thoughts aimed at Greensboro Women's Hospital.  The 5th grade team is going to host a "Welcome to Family" Shower later in the year since he decided to keep his Mommy busy for the last few weeks.  I will share pictures as soon as possible.

Teachers please sign up for a time to shop at the Bee store.  Please do not wait until the last minute.

Teachers, please make every attempt to get to lunch on time daily.  We have been working with the cafeteria to improve things, and it is important that we are on time.

This is also true for specials.  Specialists need to end on time, and teachers need to arrive on time to pick up students from specials.

Have you been updating your PEP's?

Don't forget to follow Speas on Twitter to get updates and reminders.

Gentle Reminders:
* When planning and executing field trip plans, please keep in mind that it is against policy to require parents to accompany students on trips.  We cannot exclude students from trips for behavior, or inability to pay.
